Award Winning Timber Frame Home

This house was designed to look like an old barn which grew into a house over the years. The simple exterior, with board and batten siding and custom barn doors, help create the illusion.

The interior features a pine timber frame, with pine trim and simple, skim-coated but unpainted walls, reflecting the owner's Japanese heritage.

The gourmet kitchen is "unfitted", with pine cabinets and windows instead of hanging cupboards for light and views. The soapstone counters, stainless commercial style appliances, and pine floor complement the exposed pine timber framing.

Two children's room with their own baths and play area, are at the other end of the house for privacy.

This weekend retreat is both simple and elegant, reflecting the owner's interests and appreciation for Japanese design and American country furniture.
