Set on the site of a former camp, this house has a premier site on Timber Bay. The setbacks allowed a maximum width of sixty-two feet, so the home had to be relatively compact while maximizing the lake views to the west. The entrance is from the east, with a two-car garage linked to the main house by a combination mudroom/laundry. The entry leads directly into the cathedral, timber-framed living room, with a featured stone fireplace. To the north or right is a dining room that opens up through sliding patio doors to a screened-in porch facing the lake. The kitchen, with a large central tiled island, is to the east.

Tucked behind the kitchen are a small, private office and lavatory. On the south side of the living room is the master bedroom and bath suite, with the bedroom on the lake side, and the den or family room toward the entry side. The master bedroom has a door leading out to an expansive deck complete with a hot tub, perfect for looking out over the lake. The central stair leads to a balcony, which overlooks the cathedral living room and links a bedroom and full bath on either side of the house. A back hall leads to above the garage, where there is a room for future expansion.

| This house has a simple plan, but by careful zoning of its elements, allows people privacy in bedroom or office, while still enjoying the expansive and open central living space. But the real key, of course, is the lake. With one of the choicest sites on Timber Bay, this house manages to be a practical full-time home that maximizes both summer and winter enjoyment of the water. |
