Cathedral Living Room
1st/Main Level Master Bed

The fall seems like the perfect season for a cabin, such as the Foxtail. Whether you desire a small getaway for the foliage season, hunting, or even as a ski lodge into winter, this is the time for a cabin and the Foxtail cabin is only 835 sq ft. On the outside, the board-and-batten siding, stonework and chimney give the home a distinctly cottage feeling. The front porch covered rear porch and screened-in side porch add functional outdoor space to compliment and expand the indoor space.

Stepping inside the front door there is a small entry, with the laundry on the right. To save space, the laundry space also serves as a mudroom with closet and coat hooks. Through the laundry, a clever pocket door allows access to the bathroom, saving two feet of space that would be wasted with a conventional door. On the other side of the entry is the kitchen and dining area. Although the Foxtail is a small plan, there is ample space in the U-shaped kitchen. The dining area provides room for a table for four, while a door leads to a screened porch area perfect for outdoor dining when the temperature permits. Past the dining area is the cathedral-ceilinged living space, featuring a cozy woodstove and plenty of comfy seating. French doors lead out to a covered porch offering even more exterior entertaining space. The master bedroom is accessed off the living area, with French pocket doors providing privacy while allowing maximum utilization of space. The bedroom has a small closet and room for several dressers.

The loft above is accessed from the bedroom by a ladder, which is much smaller than a flight of stairs. While the loft is open and can be used as you see fit, the area over the bedroom is a bit more private and perfect for a reading space. The area over the dining area overlooks the living space and could be used as an office or retreat.
