Designed for an outdoor loving family, this Timberpeg home is located on a beautiful wooded lot with direct access to a bike trail. With 2 teenagers and an active family that loves camping and nature, they will rarely need to take a holiday away from home.
The homeowners really liked the front exterior look of our Afton, VA home but incorporated some additional smart and lovely custom design changes. It's not uncommon for homeowners to find inspiration from our website, then 'tweak' the design of the original house base on their lifestyle and the building site. While the original Afton was built on a sloped site, the homeowners here were building on a flat site, which created more living space outside. Surrounded by woods, it is both beautiful and private. The family loves being outside so having plenty of spaces to enjoy the nature both inside and outside the home was a must.
A large courtyard (above) sits between the garage and screened-in porch. Conveniently located just off the kitchen, it's the perfect place for outdoor cookouts and relaxation. Since this space gets lots of sun, timber framed pergolas were the perfect solution to add a little shade. And for those days when the insects are extra pesky there is a screen-in porch where family and friends can still enjoy the fresh air while keeping the bugs at bay! Another patio is accessed from the great room (below). This area is sure to be a peaceful escape to sit and read a great book or even take an afternoon nap after a long bike ride.
The open design makes it easy to access all the main living spaces as well as the outdoor living spaces. When you enter the home, the foyer is perfectly sized to greet guests. A mudroom with dedicated laundry area, by way of the garage, allow the family a more informal entry. With the pantry located between the garage and the kitchen, unloading groceries is easy and convenient.
A private master bedroom with en-suite and large walk-in closet is located on the opposite side of the home along with a den just off the great room, which can also function as a home office.
On the second floor, a cozy loft is open to the great room below. And what teenager wouldn't love a bedroom with their own large closet and private full bathroom? In this home, the two bedrooms on the second floor have both, which also makes this home well designed for future overnight guests when the kids have left the nest.
This home is just one example of how the Timberpeg design team can take an inspiration home and make it truly yours and, of course, they are always excited to start with a completely custom design as well.
If you'd like to see this home in person, you're in luck!
