The Evolving Children’s Bedroom

In prior generations, homes were smaller and as a result had fewer bedrooms. The average house had only two bedrooms in the early 1970s, but by the early 2000s the average across all homes was three bedrooms. In the past decade, new construction has been typically of larger homes with three or more bedrooms. Children typically had to share bedrooms in the past but now are more likely to have their own rooms.
