Timberpeg® timber frames are cut in Claremont, New Hampshire. At the heart of our factory is a Hundegger CNC cutting machine, capable of very fast, precise production.
We also have an incredible staff of craftsman who inspect each piece of timber, and in some cases, cut timber by hand when needed. The timbers are custom ordered from a few, select mills located where the finest Douglas fir grows. We routinely stock in our yard 250,000 to 500,000 board feet of beautiful Douglas fir. We use the structural grades which meet our requirements.
These handsome, straight-grained beams age beautifully. Dense, heavy beams develop a beautiful patina over time. These attractive timbers are also the strongest of any wood species used for framing. This is the wood of choice for architects to use in their finest buildings. When the rough timbers are selected for use they are planed smooth and then run through the Hundegger.
This machine is capable of most joinery cuts, but hand finishing is often required. This is done by experienced craftsman who take pride in their work. Once the frame has been cut, it is bundled and wrapped with protective paper, and then placed on flat bed trucks for delivery. The siding, trim, millwork and roofing materials are also carefully bundled and included on the truck. Great care is taken to minimize the number of truckloads required for each project.
