John Shafer

John has been working with Timberpeg since 2000, starting his first project in the Spring of 2001. A graduate of the UVM School of Natural Resources, John has worked in the construction field since he was 18. During the school year he worked weekends for a company that bought historic timber framed buildings throughout New England, which sparked his love for this craft. After starting his own construction company and building timber frame homes exclusively, John recently shifted into a full time sales role with Timberpeg. He enjoys the process of meeting potential customers, hearing their dreams and then working to turn them into reality. John is also strong at siting buildings, as most of his projects have had very challenging sites, located on lakes or mountainsides. When not working, John can be found enjoying time with his family and in the great outdoors. He has been a licensed outdoor guide since 2005 and got his captain’s license in 2018. Holding a professional automobile racing license, John has been racing road courses since 2008 and instructing new race car drivers since 2012.
